Trust the seller before you buy.

Every seller has a record you can read before you pay: the checks they have passed, and how their past orders went.

Trust is earned through marketplace behaviour.

Verification: who the seller is

Verification answers one question: is this seller who and where they say they are? It builds one step at a time, and you can see exactly which steps a seller has climbed.

  1. Phone and email

The seller can be reached on the number and address they gave.

There is a way to contact them, and it works.

  2. Identity

The person behind the account, matched to a government-issued ID.

You are dealing with a real, named person.

  3. Business

Registration, a trade association or market membership.

The business exists beyond its profile.

  4. Location

That the shop, stall or service area is where the listing says.

You can go there, and it will be there.

  5. Enhanced checks

Further checks for higher-value categories and larger orders.

Extra assurance where more is at stake.

Figures are sample data for one fictional seller.

Is it actually there?

A common problem with buying locally is arriving to hear that the item has just finished. BiNearby shows how confident it is that something is available, based on how recently the seller confirmed it and how accurate their listings have been.

  • In stock

    Confirmed by the seller today.

  • Likely available

    Last updated three days ago.

  • Ask the seller

    Not confirmed recently.

What happens when something goes wrong

  • Fraud prevention

Accounts and listings are checked for the patterns scams leave behind, and removed when they show them.

  • Disputes

If an order goes wrong, both sides can raise it and have it looked at fairly, with the record of what was agreed.

  • Returns

Each seller states what can be returned and how. You see it before you buy.

  • Reporting

Anyone can report a seller, a listing or a message. Reports are reviewed by people, and repeat problems cost sellers their standing.

What we leave out

  • Badges that can be bought
  • Points for logging in every day
  • Reviews from people who never ordered
  • A single score that hides what went wrong

Questions about trust

Can a seller pay to look more trustworthy?

No. Verification is something a seller completes, and reputation is something they earn through completed orders. Neither is for sale.

Who can leave a review?

Only a buyer who completed an order with that seller. A review is always tied to a real transaction.

What about new sellers with no history?

A new seller starts with verification rather than reputation. You can see which checks they have passed and that their record is still short, and decide for yourself.

What happens when a seller behaves badly?

Cancellations, disputes and inaccurate listings appear on the seller’s record, and serious or repeated problems can lead to removal.

Is all of this live today?

No. BiNearby is being built. This page describes how trust is designed to work; the figures shown are sample data, not real sellers.
